The recommended width for inside sections of Talis Sea Can DIY homes and cottages is 4 ft. to 24 ft. between containers, which might be spanned by wooden joists, as seen in this rendering, or up to 4 x 20 ft. containers plus 2 ft. on each side to make running plumbing and electrical easy. The construction sample near St. Peter's will have a centre section of 24 ft. x 28 ft. to allow for a 4 ft. covered section in the front to add curb appeal, and an 8 ft. covered veranda in the back to extend Nova Scotia's outdoor season. The show home will not have a traditional chimney as seen in the pictures, above. Instead it will have a visually similar hybrid structure used for solar and storage and water capture systems, plus an enclosed "Selkirk" chimney that exhausts a wood burning heating system located against that back wall.
